4th of July Weekend

The Dorman Family had a wonderful 4th of July! We loved celebrating Sophie's first 4th with her family. My great Uncle Richard came into town along with Uncle K. We had a wonderful weekend of spending time together and laughing! Laughter truly is the best medicine. We spent Friday at the lake with Blake's family. A few of Martin's siblings came to town and it was nice to catch up with them. We spent the rest of the weekend with my family. Uncle Richard is from Texas and so we don't get to see him very often. We enjoyed going out to dinner and cooking out at my parents' home. We had a blast. Uncle Richard instantly fell in love with sweet Sophie. We love family time!

How many uncles does it take to strap Sophie in?

Sophie and her daddy watching the fireworks. She just sat in amazement and didn't fuss at all.

Swimming Lessons

Tiger swimming lessons lasted 2 weeks at Auburn Aquatics Center. We had two wonderful instructors and our friend, Kylie Anne, and her mama joined us for lessons. At first, Sophie was not a fan of the lessons or the cold water. Bless her heart, she would be blue after the 30 minutes of lessons. I think her favorite part was seeing her Papaw everyday and him toting her around to show her off. ;)

It took her two days to warm up to the swimming lessons and after those two days, she tolerated them. Thanks to Grandmama for taking her the two days I had workshop! I wouldn't say she absolutely loved them but she did start enjoying them more and more. She does pretty good kicking her legs in the water and going underwater.  I will say she enjoys the pool when its out in the sun and she doesn't turn blue, ha. She's a trooper and I'm so proud of her! I had the best time swimming with her just about everyday and they wore me out as much as they did her!

During swimming lessons, she got use to the water, lying on her back, floating on her stomach, going under, and catching balls to help with her swimming skills in the water. She wasn't a big fan of getting the balls. I think it may have been that once she spent all that time getting one, she couldn't keep it and had to put it in the bag. I'm so proud of my sweet girl! She really did a fabulous job! I love her calmness and bravery to try new things with mama!

5 Months

Little Miss Sophie turned 5 months on June 17th! I have enjoyed every moment with her this summer watching her grow and become such an independent little sweetie.

She loves to stick her toes in her mouth, grab anything she can reach on, and lots of "talking." You never know when she decides to talk but sometimes, she doesn't stop! I love it and I love watching her discover new things. She's learned to stick her tongue out, raise her hands to make a touchdown (still working on this one), laughter is more and more, and she sits up so well. I'm loving all of her expressions and we love playtime!

Our favorite song to sing is, "I'm Gonna Sing Sing Sing." She loves to be lifted in to the air as "super baby" and kick her legs. I love when she wakes up in the morning or anytime and gives me the sweetest and biggest smile. She just melts my heart! I love it when daddy comes home and she gets to cuddle with him and gives him the biggest smile! She is such a joy and blessing to our family.

Father's Day

Sophie and I had a wonderful day celebrating Blake's first Father's Day. Sophie and I cooked him a delicious breakfast of ham and cheese eggs, sausage, and biscuits. We also enjoyed a day of church and taking daddy out to lunch. Sophie and I are so blessed to have Blake! He is a hard worker for our family and loves us so much. We appreciate everything he does for us. He is so precious with our little girl and I love to see them laugh and play together.
