Not Your Typical Easter Basket

It was a typical weekend that was filled with studying and more studying. Blake, my sweet boyfriend, asked me to date night on Saturday. We had dinner plans at Longhorns and then the movies with his parents. I was excited because we were much overdue for a date night. He has been extremely busy with school and work and I have been out of town with my bestie, first grade work, graduate work, and everything else! Needless to say, I was really excited to spend some time with him. Plus, it was the start of my spring break. Ahh! I already miss it!

He came over and brought with him an Easter basket. It was Easter weekend. He is always thinking about me on random holidays such as Easter. I felt so bad because I didn't get him anything. Of course, he didn't care. I set it on my kitchen island and started to head to the door. I was starving! He stopped me and asked me if I wanted to go ahead and open it. Not thinking much about it, I said, "I would love to open it but I feel bad because I didn't get you anything." We walked back to the kitchen and I opened the basket. The first thing I thought, "Good, only four pieces of candy!" Ha!

Then I noticed an egg in the middle of the basket. I picked up the egg and realized it could open. I opened it and inside laid a beautiful diamond ring! Speechless and totally shocked, I turned around and saw Blake on one knee.

In the middle of my kitchen, he grabbed my hand and asked me to marry him. My first response, "Are you kidding me? Are you sure? Are you serious?" I was in such shock, he said, "Well, yes or no?" I excitedly said, "Yes! Yes!" He then put the ring on my finger and we hugged. Then I had to make sure that he asked my dad for my hand in marriage (that's another story in itself) but he did! Needless to say, we didn't eat dinner till around 10:00 that evening because we had to tell my dad, mom, his parents, and  I had to call everyone! Of course, I couldn't think straight!

Blake completely surprised me and I'm still in the phase of shock. I couldn't be more blessed and more excited to be engaged to a wonderful man! He works so hard. He works almost full time, goes to school full time, and is working on our future home. I never seen a more hard working man (besides my dad) and waited this long for a reason. I am excited about our new adventure together and now that finals are over, I can start to enjoy the wedding process. :) We have set the date for March 23, 2013. Details are soon to come. We can't wait to share this special day with family and friends!

Southern Love,
Tricia
